Dirt Race Car Specifications

Some rules on weight and fueling options have changed for the Y2K season.

Chassis:

1. AnySprint frame or modified ( 2x4 ) frame is acceptable.

2. Special provisions for box tube frames if needed.

3. 80" minimum to 100" maximum wheel base.

4. 85" maximim outside tread.

5. Seat must be between frame rails.

Bodies:

1. Fiberglass bodies are preferred.

2. Aluminum or steel bodies are allowed.

3. Body should be attached to chassis with quick release fasteners. ( This allows for lifting with a tow truck or

for removing driver if needed - Not Mandatory )

Wings:

1. Front wing optional.

2. Top wing to be fixed ( unmoveable ) during race. Sliders OK during hot laps but must be locked for race.

3. Side boards are not restricted as of now.

Nerf Bars:

1. All nerf bars ( bumpers ) shall be made out of steel, chrome molly or aluminum. No wood or plastic materials allowed.

2. All corners must be round and all welds must be ground smooth.

3. No sharp edges or corners allowed.

Suspension:

1. Torsion 4 bar cars recommended.

2. Any safe flat or coil spring is acceptable.

3. Shocks - any safe type and amount are acceptable.

Engine:

1. 360 c.u. plus 1.5% wear maximum.

2. Any type cam, roller rockers and girdles are acceptable.

3. Gear drive is acceptable.

4. Fuel must be distributed by 2 brl. carb.

5. Any manifold or spacers are acceptable.

6. Cast iron heads with cast iron blocks.

 

Fuel:

1. Alchohol or gasoline.

2. No Nitrous Oxide.

Fuel Cell:

1. All cars must be equipped with a fuel cell that has been approved by the club.

Weight:

1. Cars must weigh 1,500 lbs. without driver before race.

2. Up to 50 lb. leadway off total weight of car after race to account for used fluids. (Fuel, water, oil)

Tires:

2. Menu of tire applications to be updated soon.

Allowed Tire Options

These rules can be changed to keep the class competitive.

Starting:

1. Starter optional ( working engine starter )

2. Cars with out a starter must arrange for their own push start.

Mufflers:

1. All cars must have mufflers installed that will muffle engine to 95 decibels ( or meet track requirements )

2. Any car that is too loud during time trials will be asked to conform to 95 decibels. ( or track requirements )

3. Up to two courtesy warnings in one night, ( Gives you a chance to conform ) if track officials will agree.

4. Third time car will not be allowed to compete in the Trophy Dash.

 

Safety

Roll Bars:

1. Must be made of mild steel or Chrome Moly.

2. No waterpipe, plastic and or wood, etc.

3. Minimum 1 3/8 x .095 mild steel.

4. Minimum 1 15/16 x .120 mild steel.

5. Minimum 1 15/16 x .095 Chrome Moly.

6. Corners must be bent. No mitered joints allowed.

7. Top of roll cage should be at least 2" above drivers head. ( Recommended )

8. Roll bars that might come in contact with driver must be padded.

9. No exhaust pipe or tubing.

Steering Wheel:

1. Steering wheel should have a quick release.

2. Fixed wheels OK if it does not restrict the removal of the driver.

Seatbelt:

1. Lap and shoulder belts must be 3" wide.

2. Sub belt and arm restraints are mandatory.

3. All belts must be in "like new" condition. Any frayed or unsatisfactory areas found on belts will be reason for replacement.

4. Knee guards or knee pads are recommended.

Helmet:

1. SA95 or club approved helmet is required.

2. Remember SA90 helmets will be expiring in the near future and an SA95 helmet will be required

Uniforms:

1. Fire retardant uniforms, gloves, and shoes are mandatory for drivers.

2. Minimum two (2) layers of protection with protective clothing is required.

3. Head sock or helmet skirts are recommended but not required.

4. Neck collars are recommended but not required.

5. Head net is recommended but not required.

Fuel Shut Off:

1. Fuel shut off valve should be located within easy reach of the driver.

2. Fuel shut off valve should be in a visible location and marked with a bright contrasting color for safety personnel.

Fire System:

1. On board fire systems are optional but not mandatory.

Fire Extinguisher:

1. A fire extinguisher in good operating condition is required in each pit area.

2. At racing events the fire extinguisher must be placed within easy reach.

Pit Crew:

1. All club members will follow track rules regarding white pants or uniforms.

2. Crew uniforms recommended ( colored pants OK if part of crew uniform )

3. No fights, no fighting.

Last But Not Least:

1. Absolutely no whining on race nights between the hours of 6:30P.M. & 11:00PM!!!

Elected members of the Renegade 360 Sprints reserve the right to change ( modify ) the rules as needed ( if needed ) throughout the Y2K racing season.
