1999 Renegade\NCMA Awards Banquet

On Saturday November 13th the Renegades and the NCMA celebrated the season's end with an Awards Banquet. The food was delicious, the music was good, and the company was even better. Renegade Don Hicks was awarded his two Championship trophies for clinching both the Renegade and Shootout series for the 99 season. Pictures of the event will be up soon. It was the first year the two clubs held a combined banquet and it was a roaring success. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed reminiscing about the race season throughout the night. The Renegades brought their TV\VCR as usual and played a compilation tape which started with the very first Shootout race in the mud of Merced Speedway's track in 1998. That race was followed by many of the races taped during the 1999 Shootout Series. This side attraction was set up after the ceremonies and completely surrounded by club members throughout the night, rivaling the dance floor. The Renegade Club is looking forward to another successful year of racing with the NCMA Club in the Y2K season.

The banquet was a whole lot of fun and I was there snapping pictures as usual. Here are a few of the pictures I took that night.

Renegade Don Hicks #79(Right) accepts his 1st place trophy from Club President Mark Amador. Don took home two 1st place trophies that night for clinching both the Renegades and the Shootout series titles for 1999.

Don gives an acceptance speech and thanks the many people who helped him throughout the season. Pit crew members, sponsors, freinds, many people donate their time and expertise to help these racers stay out on the track each year. The awards banquet offers a perfect opportunity for those efforts to be recognized.

Always the practical jokers, Renegade President Mark Amador(#77, Left) pretends to offer a kiss to Renegade Eddie Rhoads(#78) as he accepts his trophy.

Renegade Bill Zarevich (#x5) accepts his trophy from Mark.

Renegade Randy Feathers Jr. (#4, left) receives his trophy for the Shootout Series from NCMA Club President Ed Amador (#76)

From left to right, Renegade Club President Mark Amador (#77), 1999 NCMA Club President Ed Amador (#76), and NCMA Steve Amador (#75) all pose together with their trophies. Amador racing has been around for quite some time now and is obviously still going strong! Not shown here is Ed Amador Jr. who ran the IMCA Modified class at the Stockton 99 Speedway up until 1993. Eddie hopes to return to the racing scene soon.
